Angels

RHP Fernando Salas (inflammation in his right shoulder) was placed on the 15-day DL. Manager Mike Scioscia said Salas has had lingering discomfort and the move was made “to try to knock this thing out.” RHP Dane De La Rosa was recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake. De La Rosa was on the DL with right shoulder irritation from April 13 to June 3.

Astros

The team put RHP Josh Fields on the 15-day DL with soreness in his right forearm and recalled RHP Paul Clemens from Triple-A Oklahoma City. … Houston agreed to terms on a minor league contract with RHP Jose Veras. He will report to the Astros’ spring training complex before going to Oklahoma City. … The fathers of Houston pitchers Dallas Keuchel, Jarred Cosart and Josh Zeid each threw out a ceremonial first pitch to their sons to celebrate Father’s Day. … Tuesday marked the Astros’ first loss when scoring five or more runs since they lost 8-7 to Seattle on May 4.

Athletics

Left-handed reliever Eric O’Flaherty threw 1 2/3 innings for the River Cats, allowing two hits, including a two-run homer last week. He’s coming back from Tommy John surgery. … Josh Donaldson ended his hitless streak at 33 at-bats. Donaldson was leading AL third basemen in All-Star votes in the most recent count, but his average has dipped to .250.

Mariners

1B Logan Morrison left a game early due to a cut above his left eye that needed five stitches. Morrison was hurt when he swung his bat in frustration at the dugout wall and had a piece fly back and hit him. Catcher John Buck replaced him in his first major league appearance at the position. … 1B Justin Smoak (strained quad), OF Corey Hart (strained hamstring) and OF Michael Saunders (shoulder inflammation) are close to being sent out on rehab assignments as they work their way back from stints on the DL, manager Lloyd McClendon said.

Rangers

Yu Darvish (7-3) dropped his eighth straight to the A’s. “For some reason, they have really good numbers against me,” Darvish said through a translator. “I just have to prepare myself for the next start.” Darvish allowed seven runs — four earned — and eight hits over five-plus innings. He walked five and struck out eight, including Brandon Moss in the first for career strikeout No. 600. Darvish owns a 7.59 ERA in four career starts at the Coliseum in Oakland. … The Rangers signed veteran 1B Carlos Pena to a minor league deal.
