The Braves announced Wednesday afternoon that they designated left-handed pitcher Luiz Gohara for assignment.

The move comes after trades brought the Braves relievers Shane Greene, Chris Martin and Mark Melancon on Tuesday night and Wednesday afternoon.

Gohara, who turned 23 on Wednesday, has not pitched this season.

More roster moves, to both the 40-man roster and the 25-man, are to come.

For example, the Braves have not announced who will come off the 25-man roster to make room for Greene, Martin and Melancon, or whether catcher John Ryan Murphy, also acquired Wednesday, will become an addition to the 40-man immediately.

The Braves acquired Gohara from Seattle in January 2017. Despite his ranking as one of the team’s top prospects, he never gave the team much production, in part because of injuries. He pitched in 14 games, six of them starts, and recorded a 1-4 record with a 5.33 ERA.
