Atlanta United confirmed the acquisition of centerback Luis Abram on Thursday, as reported Wednesday by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Abram, 26, agreed to a three-year contract. He will occupy an international slot on the MLS team’s roster. Financial terms weren’t disclosed.

“Luis is a talented center back who brings a lot of experience at both the club and international level at just 26 years old,” Vice President Carlos Bocanegra said in a statement provided by the club. “We expect him to make an immediate impact on our back line, and we’re excited to welcome him to the club.”

Abram will join a position group that includes Miles Robinson and JuanJo Purata. Robinson and Purata are right-footed. Abram is left-footed.

Abram joins after playing for Granada in Spain’s second division. He has 257 appearances as a pro for teams in his native Peru, Argentina, Spain and Mexico. Abram played alongside Thiago Almada at Velez Sarsfield in Argentina. Abram has made 33 appearances for Peru’s national team.

Abram is Atlanta United’s fourth signee, joining Derrick Etienne, Quentin Westberg and Clement Diop. They re-signed Amar Sejdic. The team also reportedly has signed striker Giorgos Giakoumakis but hasn’t yet completed the paperwork.
