Apparently Georgia Tech coach Paul Johnson doesn’t think much of Pitt.
After Georgia Tech beat the Panthers 35-17, Johnson was frustrated by the mistakes. Though the Yellow Jackets rushed for 436 yards, they also lost four of their five fumbles.
So that led to this gem.
“We’ve got to clean that up, because against a good team, we won’t be able to survive,” Johnson said.
Ken Sugiura of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported on Johnson's postgame comments.
Georgia Tech coach Paul Johnson trolls Pitt after win
This isn’t the first time there have been interesting postgame comments about Pitt.
Penn State coach James Franklin said when the Panthers beat the Nittany Lions last year, it was like the Super Bowl to them. Franklin compared Penn State's 33-14 win this year against the rival Panthers like it was any other game. He compared it to the previous win against Akron.
Pitt coach Pat Narduzzi later fired back that when Penn State went low, "we went high," echoing the famous quote by Michelle Obama.
There might have been a reason why Johnson was critical of Pitt. As Sugiura reported earlier this week, Narduzzi accused Georgia Tech of doing "dangerous football" with its blocking.
Pitt is now 1-3 this season after the 18-point loss at Georgia Tech. The Panthers play Rice next Saturday.
