What people said about the Braves move

Reaction to Tuesday night’s Cobb Commission vote to accept the memorandum of understanding that paves the way for the Atlanta Braves to build their new ballpark in the county.

“I feel fantastic. This was just a great example of a couple of people getting together and coming up with a big idea and then having a similar mindset and similar characteristics of how to put your willpower and your passion (into an idea) and then persevere through all the challenges that at times can get put in front of you and keep your eye on the ball.”

Braves executive vice president of business operations Mike Plant, who initiated the stadium discussions with Cobb County Commission Chairman Tim Lee in July

“We believe there are still solutions civic and business leaders could pursue in conjunction with the ball club to keep the team as a thriving part of our community. We hope to have a dialogue with the team to make that case. The Atlanta Braves are a proud symbol of a great city and we still hope to keep them in Atlanta”

Fulton County Commission and Atlanta City Council statement

“The reasons offered for why we can’t wait … just don’t make sense to me” and she didn’t have “adequate time to make sure I am diligently protecting the best interests of the county.”

Cobb Commissioner Lisa Cupid

“I have been looking for the next great economic development proposal for Cobb County. And I truly believe this is (it).”

Cobb Commissioner Helen Goreham

“I’ve been really disappointed in the veil of secrecy and the rush … to approve this deal. It’s not characteristic of the government I’ve grown accustomed to having in Cobb County, that I grew up with.”

Kevin Daniels, Cobb resident

My feeling about the @Braves coming to Cobb County is similar to how a little girl would feel if Justin Bieber came to their house.

Cobb County is aaaawwwwful. Horrible traffic, no option to MARTA to games. Getting to a game at rush hour? Forget it.

Laura Seay

So if you sit high enough at the new Braves ballpark in Cobb County, will you be able to see the team’s AAA stadium in Gwinnett?

Austin Karp

Why on earth would the @Braves think moving to Cobb County would be a good idea. Cobb County isn't Atlanta!

Brantlee Fields

I’m all for the Braves moving to a new stadium. A necessary evil to keep up with the revenue of other teams.

Andy Odenbach

best monday ever! the @Braves are moving to Cobb County! I can't wait to have the braves closer!!!

Kellen Owenby

Can you blame the braves for wanting to get away from Atlanta and move to cobb county? ATL is title less for the longest time. #coincidence?

Jacob Mays

It’s a good day to be a Braves fan

Ross Moore

Very excited for the Braves new stadium, the main reason is because it’s only 10 minutes away from where I live!!

David Khan

I am thrilled Cobb is getting the Braves- hopefully it will mean new growth and revenue which will stop the bleeding of our school system!

Cindy Beasley

With Cobb county’s contribution, the Braves will be paying as much for a new facility as it would to renovate Turner Field. Why not do it?

Vince Ruffino

Give me one legit down side to the #Braves move besides traffic. I can't think of any. Traffic is inevitable.

Ethan Martin

The #Braves confirm a move to Cobb County in 2017. Its a brilliant move. #Falcons should have built in the burbs too. Attendance will go up.

Matt Chernoff, sports talk radio personality

Wow! Can you believe the news about a new #Braves stadium for 2017 in Cobb County? What is your reaction? Mine? ADRENALINE RUSH!

Jim Powell

@Braves I love Turner Field and love taking MARTA there. You should be ashamed. SE Atlanta needed you. #Braves

Carlyn Green

I'm not happy about the #Braves moving the stadium!

Dan Judy

Well I guess I can tell people I literally live in Braves country now..or Braves county, either works for me.
