While consumers are accustomed to drive-thru service at banks and fast-food restaurants, a funeral home in Michigan is raising eyebrows by offering a new viewing option.

Paradise Funeral Home in Saginaw has built a special drive-thru window display so the deceased loved one can be viewed by mourners from the comfort of their car.

According to MLive, the concept is not new, with a few other funeral homes across the country offering a drive-thru option.

President of Paradise Funeral Home, Ivan E. Phillips, was inspired to create the drive-thru service after he witnessed an elderly widow who was not well enough to make it inside the funeral home but could have utilized a drive-thru service to say goodbye to her husband.

Dignity is integral to the drive-thru service. A curtain reveals the deceased in a special view video only after the family drives to the designated spot. Tasteful music plays overhead. A guestbook is made available and donations can be made through a secure slot.

Mourners have three minutes before the curtain closes.

In addition to the drive-thru viewing, Phillips offers a horse-drawn carriage to deliver the deceased to their final resting place.
