Update: The winning numbers from Wednesday night's Powerball drawing were: 40, 59, 21, 39, 55, and the Powerball was 17. Is that you?

Previous story: Wednesday's Powerball jackpot isn't a record but it is darn close — at least for this year.

The $310.5 million jackpot is the second largest in 2015, and it can only go higher.

So far, since Aug.5, the jackpot has rolled 16 times. If it comes to a screeching halt Wednesday, the big winner(s) will have the option of having the mega-pot paid over 29 years in 30 payments or taking a $191 million-plus lump sum.

Powerball tickets cost $2 each.

The last winner on Aug. 1 was a ticket sold in California, which brought a $110 million jackpot, according to the Georgia Lottery.

The No. 1 winner was May 18 2013 when a Florida player won a $590.5 million pot, according to lottery officials.
