Today is the end of the 40-day signing period, and Gov. Nathan Deal must decide if he'll veto "campus carry" legislation.

1. Nathan Deal vetoes Georgia's 'campus carry' legislation. The decision to reject House Bill 859, which would legalize firearms at all public colleges in Georgia, comes almost a month after the governor infuriated many religious conservatives by vetoing "religious liberty" legislation that would have extended legal protections to opponents of same-sex marriages. 3. Atlanta police investigating Instagram photos of woman on patrol car. In the photos, a woman sits on the trunk of a patrol car. An officer, police said, appears to be making the hand gesture of a fraternity in one of the photos, but his face is not in the frame. However, the car's license plate is in full view. [Read more]

4. Spelman investigating rape allegations involving Morehouse students. Spelman College is investigating an allegation which surfaced on social media Tuesday that a student at the Atlanta women's college was raped by four male students from Morehouse College. [Read more]

5Georgia Department of Education releases ratings of schools statewide. The ratings, called the College and Career Readiness Performance Index, are based largely on student performance on standardized tests, but also include other factors.
