Q: Has FedEx offered Christopher Sparkman any financial aid in light of what he has been going through recently?

A: FedEx made an initial contribution to Sparkman's family nearly a year ago but only recently learned about his continuing health issues.
“All of us at FedEx are concerned for the welfare of the Sparkman family, and after learning of the severity of their recent struggles, we communicated with the family through their attorney to explore how best to provide additional support,” FedEx spokesman Perry Colosimo told Q&A on the News in an email.
Sparkman, the security guard who was injured during a shooting at the FedEx facility in Kennesaw last April, remained at WellStar Kennestone Hospital as of mid-March as a result of complications from surgery in February.
Sparkman worked for Allied Barton, a security company, not FedEx.
“He has been denied disability from the government twice,” his wife, Jamie Lynn Sparkman, wrote at sparkmanstrong.blogspot.com, where she provides updates on his recovery. “Our only source of income has been small weekly benefits of workman’s comp from Allied Barton, and the benevolent gifts you all have given.”

“We recognize that this is a difficult time for Christopher, Jamie Lynn and the Sparkman family,” Colosimo wrote. “FedEx deeply appreciates Christopher’s selfless actions on April 29, 2014, and has sincerely hoped that his healing process would be swift.”
