Q: Falcons coach Dan Quinn was shown in a recent AJC photo with his arms held above his head, revealing what appears is a large lettered tattoo on his right arm. Can you confirm and what does the tattoo say?
—Don G. White, Atlanta
A: The tattoo bears Quinn's last name.
“Just like anybody, for me … having such a good family connection, I thought (it is) just a great way to honor our name as a family,” Quinn told the AJC.
He said other family members have tattoos, although not the specific one that he has on his arm.
The Falcons will play the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LI on Feb. 5.
Q: Where will the 120,000 cubic yards of sand come from to replenish the dangerous spit of land for the powers that be before building the mansions on Sea Island?
—Glenda Bell, Atlanta
A: The sand would come from other areas on Sea Island and from offshore locations.
To immediately rebuild the spit’s dune, it will be trucked in from various spots on Sea Island, including the spit. For long-term beach renourishment, the sand will be dredged up offshore.
A new groin is supposed to keep it in place.
Hurricane Matthew damaged part of the beach and dunes in October 2016.
