Q: It’s almost baseball time again, and there’s been no word from Dish Network or Fox Sports South about an agreement on Dish carrying weekend Braves games this season.
— Susan Miles, Marietta
A: There hasn't been progress in the negotiations to broadcast Atlanta Braves games on Dish Network on the weekends for the 2014 season, a Fox Sports South spokeswoman told Q&A on the News in an email. As a result, about 50, mostly weekend, games are in jeopardy of not being available to Dish subscribers this season. "As was the case last season, Dish continues to be the only television provider that is choosing not to distribute these additional Braves games on Fox Sports South," the network said in an emailed statement. Dish didn't respond to an emailed request for comment. The dispute stems from February 2013, when Fox Sports South bought an additional 47 games that originally were scheduled to air on Peachtree TV. The network and Dish were unable to agree to terms on additional fees for those games during the 2013 season, so Dish Network customers weren't able to view them. SportSouth will broadcast 83 games and Fox Sports South will show 73 games this season.
