Q: According to surveys mentioned in the AJC article on March 5, if everyone in the county voted, the Gwinnett County MARTA referendum would easily pass. How many Gwinnett County residents are eligible voters?

MICHAEL POYNOR, ATLANTA

A: Gwinnett County has almost 544,000 registered voters, according to March 1 data from the Georgia Secretary of State Voter Registration System. The county has an estimated 920,000 residents, the AJC has previously reported.

The March 5 story quoted Brian Robinson, a consultant working with the pro-referendum committee called Go Gwinnett, who said, “We know from surveys that if everyone in the county votes, this referendum would pass easily, so the high turnout numbers are promising.”
