Q: What happened to this year’s Atlanta Symphony Decorator Showhouse? It’s usually this time of year. I’ve been a docent for several years, but wasn’t contacted this year and have seen no publicity.

A: The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Decorators' Show House & Gardens is on hold this year.

Atlanta magazine partnered with the Atlanta Symphony in February and the organizations are using this year to “determine the strategy and vision for future Show Houses, which will include identifying the perfect home and timeline for the next tour,” according to a February release.

The magazine and the Atlanta Symphony aim to continue the show home in 2017, a spokeswoman told Q&A on the News in an email.

The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Decorators’ Show House & Gardens started in 1971.

The magazine is responsible “for selecting the home and designers, as well as managing all logistics related to the tour and overseeing all marketing, promotion, sponsorship and ticket sales,” the release stated.

Other local thrift stores or used record stores might accept videotapes, or you could try to sell them on eBay or Craigslist.

To recycle videotapes, GreenDisk accepts VHS and many other items it calls “technotrash.” Go to greendisk.com or call 800-305-3475.

Alternative Community Training also accepts VHS tapes (also CDs, DVDS, Blu-ray discs) for recycling. Go to actservices.org or call 800-359-4607.
