Q: Are the homes on the TV show “Hoarding: Buried Alive” actually that bad or are they trashed just for the purpose of filming?

—Mary Edwards, Griffin

A: The people and homes on the TLC show and on A&E's "Hoarders," which ended last season after six seasons, are real. People can apply online and "Hoarding: Buried Alive" offers assistance from professional cleaners, home organizers and licensed therapists on the show's website.

The filth in one garbage-filled Houston home featured on the show two years ago led to three women on a cleaning crew coming down with an illness that initially was thought to be hantavirus. Tests were negative for all three. A Cincinnati man who was featured on the show last November was arrested and sentenced to probation earlier this year after his home found to be in violation of city fire and health code violations. He also was ordered to undergo treatment.

Q: Was Herschel Walker the last running back to win the Heisman Trophy? If not, who was the last running back to win the Heisman Trophy?

—Eddie Webster, Douglasville

A: Mark Ingram, who played running back at Alabama, won the Heisman Trophy in 2009. He is one of eight running backs to win the Heisman Trophy since Walker won it at Georgia in 1982. The others: Nebraska's Mike Rozier ('83), Auburn's Bo Jackson ('85), Oklahoma State's Barry Sanders ('88), Colorado's Rashaan Salaam ('94), Ohio State's Eddie George ('95), Texas' Ricky Williams ('98) and Wisconsin's Ron Dayne ('99). A quarterback has won the Heisman Trophy in 12 of the past 13 years.
