Gwinnett detectives said Thursday they’re looking for two men who stole more than $200,000 in automobiles from an Audi dealership by first swiping the cars’ key fobs.

At 7:30 a.m. Monday, one of the men walked into Audi Gwinnett’s showroom on Satellite Boulevard before business began by entering from the already-opened service department.

Inside the man rummaged through the sales desks’ to steal one key fob for a 2015 Audi A8 and another for a 2015 Audi RS7, said Cpl. Jake Smith of Gwinnett police.

On his departure, he stopped in the service department to buy a battery for one of the fobs before leaving in a silver passenger car with a sunroof, Smith said.

He and a partner returned around 11 a.m., found the vehicles matching the stolen key fobs and drove off with them, Smith said. The A8 is valued at $95,125 and the RS7 is valued at $128,075.

Auto theft detectives are asking the public for help in identifying the two men. Detectives can be reached at 770-513-5300. To remain anonymous, tipsters should contact Crime Stoppers at 404-577-TIPS (8477) or visit www.crimestoppersatlanta.org. Crime Stoppers tipsters can receive up to $2000 for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case.
