Few were made by today's standards, and even fewer exist.
A vicar who was cleaning out a church cupboard found a first edition King James Bible, The Telegraph reported.
It dates back to 1611.
"We didn't know it was a first edition, but we sent photographs to the National Library of Wales and they confirmed that it was, dating back to 1611," The Rev. Dr. Jason Bray said.
"It has been authenticated, and as far as we know, has always been here," Bray told The Telegraph.
The Bible, which was commissioned by King James for people to use the same Bible and have conformity, help set the guidelines for both Christian worship and the English language.
Bray doesn't know the value of the Bible, but doesn't intend to sell it.
"We're keeping it safe at the moment, but we would like to have somewhere to display it, but to do that, we'll need money," Bray said.
