Dallas Hwy. land use change a bad idea
In regards to Cobb County re-zoning case Z-98 (24 acres on Dallas Highway at Garrison Ridge), I fail to understand why Commissioner Bob Weatherford is actively campaigning to change the county’s long-term land use plan. He states that the large donations made by the law firm representing the developer to his political campaign would not bias him at all. However, his actions speak otherwise. It is time to slow down the commercial development along Dallas Highway. In fact, this property is adjacent to the Mud Creek Line, a historic site, that will be subject to severe flooding if the land use plan is changed for saturated commercial development. There is plenty of retail space all along Dallas Highway and building additional space to remain “vacant” is not needed. This West Cobb resident would like to see the area remain as it is.

Twerking not entertaining at games
It appears that Cam Newton doesn’t think the multi-millions of dollars he and other football players earn for scoring touchdowns is enough. He thinks because they “work hard … for long hours” they are entitled to let loose and do their ridiculous dancing or obnoxious twerking after scoring.
And, no, their celebrations are not entertaining to everyone, and are a bad example for young players. Football is practically a national institution. If people want to be entertained by dancing and prancing they should go elsewhere. Football players and fans are there for the game to see what the players do and how they score, not the latest fad culture or newest dance step. Excessive celebrations are not the “little nuances of the game.”
When you score a touchdown, act like you’ve been there before. Please NFL, keep the lid on and the fines coming.
