Media hatred of Trump hurts U.S.’s global standing

I was watching an international news station in Europe. They were talking about how America is in deep decline. The economy is going to drop to levels never heard of before. The people are protesting and hate the government. Where do they get these crazy ideas? Then I was sitting in an airport and started watching the news. CNN is on in just about every airport around the world. CNN is the reason the world thinks we are failing. CNN’s constant hatred for Donald Trump means 90 percent of their coverage of Trump is all negative. They keep on talking about Russia. I guess they don’t know they are beating a dead horse. I don’t know what kind of agreement CNN has to allow them exclusively to broadcast in airports, but they must go. CNN does not represent American values or the American people.

White privilege blinds people to unequal treatment

In the letter to the editor, “I’ve seen no evidence of trooper profiling” (Readers Write, June 12), the writer complains about a previous reader’s letter accusing the Georgia State Patrol of racially profiling drivers of color. He makes a mistake all too typical of conservatives: thinking, “If it didn’t happen to me or I didn’t see it happen to someone, it didn’t happen.” I would bet real money the writer is older and white, and thus much less likely to have personally encountered abuse by law enforcement officers. I would also bet that he knows at least one or two black or brown people. He needs to ask them what their experience, and that of their family and friends, has been with police and state troopers. Take off your white-privilege blinkers and get some real facts before you start accusing anyone of “racist delusions.”
