Travis County authorizes have found a dead body in Lake Travis near the spot where a local girl went missing Thursday.
The body of a young female was found just before noon, officials said at a news conference Saturday.
The body has not yet been identified but the Travis County Medical Examiner’s office is expected to identify and give a cause of death early next week.
The body was found near the location where a 15-year-old female went missing Thursday after falling off a boat about a mile from VIP Marina Lake Travis while attending an Austin Ridge Bible Church wake boarding camp.
Authorities have been searching since Thursday morning.
The search continued on Friday but officials found nothing. The search was called off around 7 p.m. that night.
On Saturday the effort resumed and the Travis County Sheriff’s Office dive team began searching just before 9 a.m. Texas Park and Wildlife assisted on the search using sonar equipment and joined the effort around 9:40 a.m.
Just before noon on Saturday, Texas Parks and Wildlife found what they believed to be a body near the location where the teen had gone missing.
The Sheriff’s office confirmed that it was a body and brought it up to the surface.
