‘We now believe you’re more guilty’: Twitter pundits pan Jason Mitchell’s ‘Breakfast Club’ interview

‘The Chi’ actor was fired from his acting gigs earlier this year due to misconduct allegations

Who is Jason Mitchell?

During an interview with “The Breakfast Club” on Monday, former “The Chi” actor Jason Mitchell said he was unsure why he was fired by the showrunners of two productions earlier this year. Within hours of his interview, several Twitter users rejected his sentiments.

Earlier this year, Mitchell was fired by his agent, managers and showrunners of Showtime's "The Chi" and Netflix's "Desperados" after several claims of misconduct, according to The Hollywood Reporter. At the time, sources told the entertainment magazine that Mitchell had been accused of sexually harassing his "The Chi" cast mate Tiffany Boone. The actress reportedly told show executives she felt unsafe with Mitchell on set.

Mitchell on Monday told “The Breakfast Club” hosts that he is not sure why he was fired. According to Mitchell, Ayanna Floyd Davis, the Showtime drama’s former showrunner, used the “Me too” movement against him.

“I think in this situation, Ayanna tried to use it as a really, really ugly weapon,” Mitchell said during the interview.

In response to questions about being released from the “Desperados” movie, Mitchell said he believed helping a costar get home after a night of drinking was misconstrued.

“For anybody who has ever been around me, they know I’m one of the most loving, sweet people in the world,” he said. “If I did do anything, say anything to make anybody feel any kind of way, you have my deepest apologies.”

Twitter users quickly jumped at the chance to pan Mitchell’s apology and his claims of not knowing why he was fired. Some said he was “playing the victim.”

Some pointed out that he explained his woes by blaming Floyd Davis, but he never clearly addressed why he was fired from the “Desperados” movie.

Some did back Mitchell after viewing the interview.
