Patrol cars in one North Carolina county sporting "In God We Trust" decals are drawing praise and criticism on social media.

According to a post on the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office Facebook page, a local church helped pay for the decals. Sheriff Chris Francis had been considering the patrol car decals for months as a way to show patriotism, but could not make it happen without the church's funding.

While many Facebook commenters seemed to be in support of the decals, some people were concerned about whether the decals violated the separation of church and state.

The China Grove Police Department, also in North Carolina, created controversy wh en adding similar decals to their cars.
