People reported that the redditor, Derek Schwendeman of Newark, Delaware, posted the photo Feb. 15 with a simple caption.

"My grandfather in 1950 before deploying to Korea," Schwendeman wrote.

Enthusiastic comments followed.

"That is one good looking man," one redditor said.

Another user asked, "Is he single?"

"Did your grandfather serve as a model in the military?" a different redditor asked.

The image has over 3 million views, but the person most amused by it is Schwendeman's grandmother, Fleecie, his grandfather Thomas' wife.

"My grandmother says since they married young, he didn't have much of a chance to 'sow his wild oats,' Schwendeman said. "She told me that he has 'women fussing over him all of the time, but I got him first.'"

Schwendeman's grandparents Thomas and Fleecie got engaged before Thomas went to basic training in April 1951.

After Thomas finished basic training, and the Army's Ranger School, they got married in October 1951.

Thomas was deployed to Korea in April 1952.

After being deployed for a year, Thomas worked at the Bell Telephone Company and retired from there in 1983. He later worked as a bus driver and tour bus driver before retiring in the 90s.

"A man of few words, he taught me most of what I learned from him through his actions," Schwendeman said. "He can repair just about anything and is patient and meticulous and never gives up until a job is completed up to his very high standards. My grandmother calls him Mr. Fix-it."

The grandparents will soon be great-grandparents when Schwendeman and his wife welcome a baby girl in March.

Fleecie trusts that her husband never took advantage of his good looks. Thomas responded, "no," when she asked him if he would have done things differently knowing how attractive he is.

He was always loyal and has taken very good care of me," she said.
