They’re called "Satisfries" and Burger King is introducing them across the country today.

The fries have 20% fewer calories than their normal offerings and 30% less than McDonald’s

The Wall Street Journal reports the new fries are crinkle cut so you can tell them from the full-fledged version and will cost more than the regular fries.

Burger King explained the new fries are lower calorie because of the coating used rather than the way they are prepared.

The new batter is not as absorbent as the old and soaks up less oil during cooking.

Reports are it took two years for Burger King and supplier McCain Foods to come up with the new item.

Burger King officials explained why it was important to come up with the new fries.

"It's not realistic to ask people to replace french fries with carrots or celery sticks," a dietitian began.

“This is like meeting people halfway."
