A Mississippi school superintendent has filed disturbing the peace charges and arrest warrants were issued for two people who cheered at a recent high school graduation.

Senatobia Municipal School District Superintendent Jay Foster warned the crowd at Senatobia High School in Mississippi to hold their applause at the event.

One of the noisemakers, Ursula Miller, said she shouted the name of her niece — Lakaydra– while the student crossed the stage to get her diploma. Miller was immediately escorted off the property.

She thought that was the end of it, but arrest warrants were issued about a week later.

Parent Henry Walker, who waved a towel and shouted, “You did it baby!” to his daughter, said, “It’s crazy. The fact that I might have to bond out of jail, pay court costs, or a $500 fine for expressing my love, it’s ridiculous man. It’s ridiculous.”

“We don’t have money for anything like that,” said lawbreaker Linda Walker, who must be as loud as Henry.

The four people charged are expected in court June 9.
