Lovejoy High School teacher Coleman Eaton has been picked to join an elite group of 40 middle and high school teachers from across the country as members of the prestigious Siemens Teachers as Researchers (STARS) fellowship program. The program takes place this summer at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, a U.S. Department of Energy national laboratory. Teams of scientists work at the laboratory to solve to America’s most pressing problems relating to energy, the environment and national security. The two-week fellowship in July is designed to empower teachers to bring the excitement of authentic research into their classrooms and inspire students to pursue science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education. Coleman and the other teachers also will receive grants to purchase equipment and/or supplies for their classrooms.
