A five-season sponsorship between Zaxby’s and the Atlanta Falcons names the chicken restaurant chain as the “Official Chicken” of the hometown team, according to a recent press release.
As part of the deal outlined in the statement, the Athens-based chain will receive “opportunities for exposure through” signage and broadcast and print media.
But when the new Mercedes-Benz Stadium opens for the inaugural football game on Aug. 26, fans won't be able to purchase the brand's chicken inside the facility.
There is not a Zaxby's located in the stadium "at this time," according to a spokeswoman. The stadium's restaurant lineup includes eateries such as Chick-fil-A, Delia's Chicken Sausage and Fox Bros. Bar-B-Q.
The partnership with the 154 Atlanta-area Zaxby’s locations and the team runs through the 2021-2022 season.
Stadium officials declined to comment about financial terms of the Zaxby's sponsorship.
Fred Weir, president of the Zaxby’s Atlanta Co-op, said he is “thrilled to ... bring together Zaxby’s biggest market with the biggest sports franchise in Atlanta.”
Zaxby’s will be the title sponsor for the Falcons’ Salute to Service Week from Oct. 30 through Nov. 4. The chain will also be a presenting sponsor at Training Camp, the Atlanta Falcons/MADD 5K and Fishing with the Falcons, an annual spring tournament for wounded warriors.
Beginning in September, participating Zaxby’s locations in Atlanta and Macon will offer a season-long Falcons Fan Favorite meal. It includes four Chicken Fingerz, Texas toast, crinkle fries and a 22-ounce beverage that can be upgraded to a 32-ounce Falcons Collectors Cup for 50 cents.
Zaxby’s has more than 800 locations in 17 states.
