Milton police say they need your help catching criminals, but don’t run to that phone booth to change outfits just yet.
The department announced Monday that it is starting Operation S.C.R.A.M. — Security Camera Registry and Mapping — which asks people with surveillance cameras at their homes or businesses to register them with police.
That way, if a crimes happens in the area, police don’t have to waste the precious early hours of an investigation hunting for surveillance footage.

This voluntary program doesn’t give police any-time access to your footage — registering lets officers know you’re willing to let them view anything your camera might have inadvertently captured that could help an investigator.
"What we're asking Milton residents to do is, 'help us, help you,'" said Milton police's Chief Rich Austin in a news release. "The hope is that, the knowledge of the location of security cameras around Milton, combined with other evidence, could lead to solving even more crimes."

The department said it is the first in North Fulton County to start this program, which is popular throughout Cobb County.
It is free to register, and that can be done online.
