Consultants Rhodeside and Harwell met with a number of city, civic and other stakeholder groups in Sandy Springs last week as work got underway on the next edition of the Sandy Springs Comprehensive Plan.
The plan is a menu of growth-related policies, guidelines and recommendations, covering everything from detailed land-use plans for different zoning categories and neighborhoods to population projections to economic development goals. An update is required every 10 years, but city officials expect to be done in 14 months — one year early.
The consultants also conferred with city officials to start developing a series of workshops, social media initiatives and public hearings to get community feedback, after which the firm will write the plan under a $950,000 agreement with the city.
The planning team will hold its next meeting in September.
