The Woodstock City Council has approved an agreement with the State Road and Tollway Authority to let city police and fire personnel use the toll lanes of the authority at no charge when acting in their official capacity.

Under the memorandum of understanding, Woodstock will open an “emergency non-revenue account” with the toll authority and will be issued electronic Peach Passes to be assigned to specific police and fire vehicles, used by employees certified in emergency fire and rescue.

The toll authority’s Northwest Corridor Express Lane project will extend through Woodstock. A total of 29.7 miles of toll express lanes are being constructed along I-75 from Akers Mill to Hickory Grove roads and I-575 from the I-75 junction to Sixes Road. The lanes are scheduled to open in the fall of 2018.
