The Woodstock City Council has renewed its participation in a program that offers rebate credits of $50 to $100 to homeowners who install water-conserving toilets.

The agreement, with the Metropolitan North Georgia Water Planning District, has the district processing rebate requests and notifying the city, and the city crediting the rebate to a water customer’s account. The agreement runs through June 30, 2020.

The program is for owners of single-family homes, built before 1993, who replace a toilet using 3.5 gallons or more water per flush with a WaterSense-labeled toilet that uses 1.28 gallons or less, according to the program's website. The rebate is $100 for a toilet that uses 1.1 gallons or less, and $50 for one that uses more than 1.1 gallons.

Rebates are limited to two per property. The city will allocate $4,000 to fund the rebates and a $10 administrative fee for each toilet approved for a rebate. Information: https://bit.ly/2kn0cOh

From the beginning of toilet rebate programs in metro Atlanta in 2008 through January of this year, more than 135,000 water-inefficient toilets have been replaced with low-flow and high-efficiency models, resulting in a savings of 2.4 million gallons of water a day, the Metro Water District says.
