Woodstock police and a local towing company are teaming up for a sixth year of “Operation Safe Ride” New Year’s Eve.

That night, Woodstock police will provide a free ride home to patrons at local bars who feel impaired or unsafe to drive. In addition, Neese Towing will offer a free tow home. Those eligible must be at an establishment within the Woodstock city limits, live a reasonable distance within Woodstock, and be without money to call a taxi.

Police say the program has provided more than 300 rides home sine its inception and has undoubtedly saved lives.
