So the kids are back in school in Cobb — earlier than ever — and all that time you had with them has evaporated again.
Acworth has a way to steal some of that time back and enjoy the outdoors once it has (hopefully) cooled down a bit.
The city is hosting its fourth Mother-Son Campout at Proctor Landing Park on Sept. 16, which is a Saturday.
Sons must be age 13 and younger, the city said. It costs $30 for Acworth residents and $45 for those are aren't; and it costs $10 to bring another son.
The camping trip begins at 1 p.m. with check-in and set-up at the campsite right next to Allatoona Lake. Dinner that night and breakfast the next morning is provided and the event ends at 10 a.m.
You are responsible for your own snacks and camping equipment, but Acworth said there will be experienced volunteers to help you set up your campsite. The city also has some suggestions on what to pack.
And your son will get to experience the same lake where professional wakeboarders compete.
Online registration for the campout runs until Sept. 15
