Nearly 200 volunteers from Target, Favor House Inc, and the City of College Park, along with organizers from KaBOOM! and residents of the College Park community teamed up to build a new community playground in early September at Central Park Apartments on Camp Creek Parkway.

Designed in July when children from the neighborhood put crayons to paper to draw their dream playground, the new play space includes state of the art equipment. The new playground will bring more than 600 kids in College Park one step closer to having the childhood they deserve.

“This is one of the most important community projects for our residents,” said Joe Carn, College Park’s Ward II Councilman. Carn is a strong advocate of youth, education and recreation. He is truly proud to help bring the playground to fruition. “Now young people in our apartments can walk to a safe play area and parents can use the walking trail and picnic tables anytime,” he added.

This is the third KaBOOM! playground constructed in College Park within the last 15 months. The city installed playgrounds at the Bill Badgett Stadium (May 2016) and at the Tracey Wyatt Recreation Complex (July 2016).
