Fayetteville wants citizens to show up for its upcoming Community Cleanup Day on Nov. 9. Volunteers will gather for a brief safety meeting at 9 a.m. at the Lane Brown Gazebo outside the county administrative complex, 140 Stonewall Ave. West.
From then until noon, groups and individuals will fan out over the city to sites of their own choosing (such as neighborhoods, schools, playgrounds or shopping areas) to pick up litter. Participants are asked to bring their own gloves and litter-picking devices, and the city will provide them with one trash bag each while supplies last. Tied bags of trash can be left near (but not in) roadways where their location can be emailed to info@fayetteville-ga.gov; public works crews will collect the bags on Nov. 11.
A group photo will be taken at the gazebo at the end of the event, and teams are encouraged to post selfies using #FayettevilleCleanup. Participants will be recognized at a future Fayetteville City Council meeting.
