As the coronavirus pandemic continues, the deadline for Georgians to renew their motor vehicle registrations has been extended again.
The Georgia Department of Revenue announced Tuesday that drivers whose tags expire between March 16 and June 14 will now have until June 15 to renew their registrations.
The latest extension gives those whose tags expired since mid-March another month to renew. Previously, Georgia’s vehicle owners had been given until May 15 to get their tags up to date.

The extension applies to all annual registrations, including personal vehicles, commercial vehicles, drivers registered in the International Registration Plan and “drive-off tags” issued at the time of a vehicle purchase.
Drivers whose vehicle registrations expired before March 15 do not qualify for the latest extension, officials said.
“While I have extended this deadline to give Georgians more time to register a new vehicle or renew current vehicle registrations, I strongly encourage taxpayers, especially those whose registrations were originally due in March and April, to register or renew as soon as possible and not wait until June 15th,” Revenue Commissioner David Curry said in a statement.
Though more county tag offices are opening each day, drivers are still encouraged to renew their registrations online if possible, Curry said.
