Tyrone’s public library will host a hiring event for local U.S. Census takers on three successive Thursdays this month.

Applications for the jobs will be accepted 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on Jan. 16, 23 and 30 at the library, 143 Commerce Drive. The jobs involve collecting data from household residents as part of the 2020 national census and pay $17 per hour. Minimum requirements for hiring include U.S. citizenship, age 18 or older with a valid Social Security number and email address, passage of a criminal background check (including fingerprinting), a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle as well as a computer with internet access, and availability during flexible hours including days, evenings and/or weekends.

Applications can also be submitted at 2020Census.gov/jobs.
