On the heels of the referendum vote approving EHOST/SPLOST across DeKalb County, Tucker City Manager Tami

Hanlin presented an update on the SPLOST at that City Council meeting. According to her report, the additional penny tax will begin to be collected in April 2018, with the city receiving funds monthly beginning in May.

DeKalb County’s sales tax increase passed with 70 percent of the vote on Nov. 7. Of the anticipated $636.8 million to be distributed over the next six years, Tucker will receive $31.8 million based on 2016 population estimates.

Tucker’s SPLOST project list included:

  • at least 65 percent of the proceeds for roads and drainage
  • at least 20 percent for multi-modal transportatin consisting of sidewalks, paths and bikeways
  • projects for fire facilities and citywide safety equipment
  • up to 15 percent of the proceeds for capital outlay projects
  • improvements to the parks and recreation system and public facilities.
