The Atlanta Streetcar and Atlanta Fire Rescue Department will stage a full-scale emergency response exercise Wednesday.

The event will take place at the Streetcar Vehicle Maintenance Facility — which houses the fleet and offices — from 10 a.m. to noon. Smoke machines and other equipment will be used during the fire scenario.

The facility is located beneath the highway at 275 Auburn Ave. Fort Street between Auburn and Edgewood avenues will be closed from 8 a.m. to noon.

Morning commuters should use alternate routes to I-75/85 North during the road closure, according to a press release. Residents and business owners should be aware that response vehicles and activities related to the drill may be seen from Auburn and Edgewood avenues.

Normal emergency operations won’t be affected by the exercise; if resources are needed for a real emergency, directors may cancel the drill at any time.
