It could be several weeks or longer before authorities get toxicology reports on the 44-year-old Marietta woman who fell to her death from a 14th-floor Panama City Beach balcony.

"Since this is not a criminal case, they don't really tag these things with a high priority," Police Chief Robert Harding told the AJC on Thursday.

An autopsy conducted Wednesday merely confirmed that Michelle Haley died from the fall. Haley, who was staying at the Laketown Wharf condominiums with her husband and teenage son, plunged from the balcony onto a three-story parking deck about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Her husband and a friend were inside the condo at the time, and the 17-year-old son was out getting something to eat.

Harding said Haley was taking an anti-anxiety medication, but "they recovered the medication and from the count on the bottle, there is no indication there was any abuse. The wife seemed to be on schedule for that medication."

Harding said Haley's husband, Todd, went to look for her on the balcony because she was a smoker.

"He doesn't see her out there," Harding said. "He looks over and sees her on top of the parking deck. Nobody heard anything, nobody saw anything."

The husband's friend confirmed that account, Harding said.

The balcony railing was intact.
