Still need somewhere to send the kids for camp now that school’s out? You’re in luck: Gwinnett County Parks and Recreation still has camp program spots open.

The parks department is holding “junior adventure camps” for children ages 5 and 6 and day camps for children ages 7 through 13.

There are specialty camps for sports, art, dance and drama, and all campers get opportunities to swim and do outdoor activities. Camp programs have weekly themes, including “Fashion Show Camp,” “Splashtacular” and “Safari.”

Athletes can register for camps dedicated to sports including lacrosse, soccer and basketball. In addition to outdoor activities, campers have access to air-conditioned gyms, recreation centers and game rooms.

You can register for the entire summer — June 5 to July 28 — or choose specific weeks to enroll your campers. Some camps also offer daily registration.

Camps cost $126 per week for Gwinnett County residents and $146 per week for non-residents. Daily enrollment is $26 for one day, $46 for two days or $66 for three days.

The department says it has checked the background of staff members and made sure they are certified in first aid, CPR and AED defibrillator use. They also undergo training from Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and the health education group OrganWise Guys.

Details on specific camps can be found on Gwinnett County's website.
