Q: The new international terminal will be named just after Maynard Jackson, but the main airport is Hartsfield-Jackson. Why the discrepancy? Should it not be the same name for both?

—John R. Siegel, Atlanta

A: When the new international terminal was in the planning stages in 2003, it was decided by Mayor Shirley Franklin and the Atlanta City Council to name the building in honor of former mayor Maynard H. Jackson Jr., who died on June 23, 2003, airport spokesman John Kennedy told Q&A on the News in an email. Then, on Oct. 20 of that year, the city council voted to change the name from Hartsfield International Airport to Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, putting Jackson's name on both.

Q: Please publish the actual amount of taxes paid by Warren Buffett and his secretary.

—Don Larson, Stone Mountain

A: Buffett made about $63 million in 2010 and paid $6.9 million in taxes that year, according to CNNMoney. The billionaire investor told the website that his adjusted gross income was $62,855,038, his taxable income was $39,814,784, his federal income tax was $6,923,494 and his payroll taxes were $15,300. Debbie Bosanek, Buffett's secretary, hasn't made her tax returns public, but likely makes between $200,000 and $500,000 a year, based on her tax bracket, Forbes.com reported. Buffett said he paid a 17.4 percent rate on taxable income, but his staff pays an average of 34 percent, Forbes reported, which means Bosanek makes "a salary well above" $200,000, the article stated.
