Q: I have a Georgia driver's license with an expiration date of five years. A local law enforcement friend has one with multiple years on his license, and several friends who are teachers have license expirations at 10 years. Did Georgia change the number of years between renewals? If so, when?

—Connie Peebles Propes, Gainesville

A: Georgia has changed the number of years for driver's license renewals twice in the past five years. Drivers with expiring licenses now have a choice of renewing for five years at $20 or for eight years at $32, which went into effect last year, Susan Sports, the public information officer for the Georgia Department of Driver Services, told Q&A on the News. Previously, licenses expired after either five or 10 years, and before that, licenses had to be renewed every four years. Other license types, like commercial driver's licenses (CDL) and limited permits, have different renewal rules, Sports said. She added that most people are eligible to renew online at www.dds.ga.gov and can do so up to 150 days before their license expires.

—Betty Langley, Jonesboro

A: Rick Sanchez is the radio color analyst for the Florida International University football team on WMCU 1080 AM this season. Sanchez was fired from CNN last fall after a rant on a radio show in which he implied that "The Daily Show's" Jon Stewart is a bigot.
