An 18-year-old found at the bottom of his family's hot tub died Tuesday night, a Gwinnett County fire official said.

Firefighters and paramedics were called to the scene about a possible drowning in the 500 block of Emerald Parkway in Buford around 7 p.m., fire department spokesman Lt. Colin S. Rhoden said.

The family was performing CPR on Shea Mitchell when rescue crews arrived, he said.

Crews took over and continued advanced treatment as the teen was taken to Northside Hospital Forsyth, where he was pronounced dead.

The cause of death will be determined by the medical examiner, Rhoden said.

The scene was turned over to the Gwinnett County Police Department for further investigation.

No foul play is suspected, police said.
