Georgia Tech and Georgia State University will begin a new partnership this fall aimed at increasing the number of math and science teachers working in the state's middle and high schools.

The State Board of Regents approved the new Georgia Tech-GSU Bachelor of Science/Master of Arts in Teaching this week. This option allows students to apply credits to degrees earned at both institutions while completing a teacher certification program.

The collaboration allows the two Atlanta-based institutions to pool their expertise. Tech is known for its programs in math, science, technology and engineering and Georgia State is regarded for its education and teacher preparation programs.
