Marietta’s Brad Begin has an issue with a busy highway exit ramp.
“There’s an exit ramp coming off I-75 south to merge onto I-285 West. It’s called exit 238B at the end of the airport’s runways. As many airport employees do, I travel this exit ramp daily pre-dawn. The exit ramp is very dark, contains multiple sweeping curves and an underpass, which must be navigated without the aid of significant road markers. Road paint and reflectors are prominent just before and after this exit ramp, but not within the half-mile journey of the exit ramp itself,” he wrote.
Begin said twice in the past year a guard rail has required repairs due to head-on collisions within this curved and darkened area.
“I’m certain serious injuries have already occurred. I believe the root cause is an oversight by DOT to maintain the roadway paint and markers. I thought for certain the DOT would renew the road paint and markers after last month’s guard rail impact, but nothing,” he said.
Begin said the DOT might not be recognizing the risk due to only seeing the exit ramp during the day.
“If you travel this exit ramp yourself in evening hours, I believe you’ll also experience the peril and require high beam lights as I do,” he added.
We sent the item to the DOT and will keep you updated.

Janice Herbert is worried about a dangerous crossing.
“The pedestrian crossing on westbound Dunwoody Club Drive at Mt. Vernon Road is hazardous for people crossing the street. The crossing sign is about 50 feet beyond the crossing and is on the back end of the street curve. For much of the year, the crossing sign is hidden behind tree branches. Most cars don’t even slow down when going through this part of the intersection,” she wrote.
Herbert said the pedestrian crossing sign needs moving to a place before the westbound street curve and the pedestrian crossing.
We sent the issue to Sandy Springs, who said they were going to send out a crew and issue a work order. We initially reported on the subject in September, but there was a dispute between Dunwoody and Sandy Springs over the jurisdiction of the location. Sandy Springs confirmed it is their responsibility.
