New item-Atlanta
Vicky Frazer is concerned over a busy Atlanta road.
“About two months ago a complete resurfacing of Candler Road was very welcomed in southeast Atlanta. However, there is one small section that has never been resurfaced and it causes traffic back-ups each day. There is a dip in the road if you are traveling across Candler on Glenwood, along with several manhole covers protruding above the pavement,” she wrote.
We sent her item to the city and will let you know when it is resolved.

Lisa Boone hopes an ancient pothole can be fixed.
“This pot hole in front of my house at 4387 Creek Wood Close NE in Atlanta was created 11 years ago when the city came out to install a new water meter. After that project was completed, the hole was covered with a metal plate. The metal plate was there for seven years. After badgering the city for three years to remove the plate, it was finally taken away. Now we’re back to the pot hole that grows larger every year,” she said.
We forwarded her complaint to the city.

New item…and update- DeKalb County
Tiffany Hogan is fed up with the state of roads in her county.
“DeKalb County roads, beginning at the intersection of Flat Shoals Parkway and Flakes Mill Road , have been in disarray since May of 2015. There is no end in sight. In the earlier part of 2014, there were signs posted, stating that road work would end by December 2014, when it actually did not start until May 2015. The roads have been “torn up” since May 2015,” she wrote.
We got a quick answer back from the county.
“The Flakes Mill Road Waterline Replacement Project consists of replacing a 6-inch asbestos pipe with new 8-inch ductile iron pipe. Approximately one mile of waterline has been installed under Flakes Mill Road from Flat Shoals Parkway to McGill Drive. This portion (Flat Shoals to McGill) of 6-inch waterline has been removed from service, drained and abandoned in-place. The new waterline has also been put into service. Sidewalk ramps were installed at all intersections with Flakes Mill Road from Flat Shoals Parkway to McGill Drive.
“The entire roadway has been under repair since Sept. 2015. Deep patching of this area was required by GDOT resulting in the current impacts. The south bound lane is complete. Currently, the contractor is working on completing deep patches to the north bound lane. Both lanes will be resurfaced and re-striped by December 25, 2015 provided weather conditions are favorable to placing asphaltic concrete. Waterline installation and roadway resurfacing is also scheduled to progress south of the South River on Flakes Mill from McGill Drive to the Henry County line in Jan. 2016,” wrote the county’s chief communications officer Burke Brennan.
