William Carney wants to see a storm drain fixed soon.

“While this storm sewer has been a wreck for several years without attention from the city, catching tires and sometimes damaging wheels when drivers turn too sharply into a narrow crowded street, it has now become outright dangerous,” Carney wrote about the storm sewer at the intersection of Moreland Avenue and Fairview Road. Since the sewer is at the intersection of two jurisdictions, we sent the issue to the DOT and the city’s watershed management department to try and get it fixed.

Update-Gwinnett County

Earlier this month, we told you about a reader’s concern over an on ramp at Ga. Highway 20 and Ga. Highway 316. Last week, we got a response from the DOT.

“After reviewing the ramp , GDOT has developed a plan to enhance safety as vehicles merge and slow traffic down as that merge occurs from the [State Route] 20 ramp to [Ga. Highway] 316 west. The merge point will be moved back up the ramp, away from [Ga. Highway] 316 about 300 feet. This will slow traffic and allow more room for merging and additional signage notifying motorists of the merge. One new sign ‘caution merge ahead’ will be installed and all the existing signs on the outside shoulder of the ramp will be added to the inside shoulder, doubling the warning signage of the merge,” wrote Teri Pope, communications officer for the DOT.

A reader hopes something can be done about parking in a new popular part of town.

“Since the Beltline has been completed at Tanyard Creek Park, users often park on both sides of Overlook Road at Collier Road. The road without parked cars is very narrow and is impassable when these cars are there. An emergency vehicle would not be able to navigate to an emergency call,” the reader wrote.

The readers suggested making parking on the curb illegal on either both or one side on Overlook Road.
