The Suwanee City Council voted recently to support ‘Georgia’s Not Buying It’ initiative to fight human sex trafficking. The goal for this initiative is to encourage all 50 states to get involved in the ‘Not Buying It’ initiative.

Other initiatives include promoting training for mandated reporters so they can recognize and report illegal conduct and effectively support victims of sex trafficking. The city will also work to continue to appropriately train public safety personnel to recognize perpetrators of sex trafficking and to refer victims to service providers to assist them.

The program also provides training and support to teachers, coaches, and other youth leaders to recognize and report potential child victims of sex trafficking, and e ncourages businesses and employers to train the employees in these issues and to reduce and eliminate improper conduct that may occur in their businesses.
