Suwanee has recently completed a six-month process to develop the city’s first Public Art Master Plan. The plan was developed in consultation with Todd Bressi, an independent art consultant from Philadelphia, and Meridith McKinley, a public art planning and programming professional in St. Louis.
The city council voted unanimously Tuesday to adopt the 82-page master plan.
The plan introduces two key ideas about the types of public art that make sense for the city. First, art projects will reflect and celebrate Suwanee’s active and playful spirit, an idea called “Art + Play.” Second, art projects will reinforce the major urban design connections in downtown Suwanee and the major activity centers of the city, an idea called “Art + City Image.”
In addition, the plan outlines how Suwanee will create a wider variety of short-term projects, rather than investing in permanent projects.
