Loch Lomond residents submitted a request to the city of Atlanta in April 2015 to be annexed into the city limits. After reviewing the request, the city verified that 62 percent of the community’s residents had signed the petition. The ordinance naming Loch Lomond a city of Atlanta neighborhood was adopted by Atlanta City Council and signed by Mayor Kasim Reed.

Some Loch Lomond residents, however, disagreed with the annexation and filed a lawsuit with claims that it was not valid.

City of Atlanta Attorney Cathy Hampton said in a statement that she is pleased with the Superior Court of Fulton County’s recent ruling affirming the annexation of the Loch Lomond neighborhood.

Hampton said the city followed proper protocol by filing for the annexation before the July 1, 2016 deadline, and by working with Loch Lomond to verify that at least 60 percent of residents had requested the annexation.

Located in south Fulton County, Loch Lomond has about 275 homes and covers 271 acres.
